It was the fourth edition of this international competition organized by Metro International. The competition was held simultaneously in 17 countries around the world (15 languages), and was accessible via the web and mobile applications of dedicated systems iOS and Android.

Beyond using standard Competizer functions (for example, voting and registration via Facebook, 2-stage process of choosing local finalists, limiting and the jury panel vote) Metro Photo Challenge was created with dedicated module ‘Photo of the day’. It allowed the selection and publication of ‘pictures of the day’, among entries from all over the world for a given topic, which may be different for each day.

The results (based on Google Analytics):

  • Number of unique visitors: 928 175
  • Number of views: 6 831 527
  • Number of pages / visit 5.82
  • A record number of visitors: 36 608 (1 November 2011)
